Here is what a few of my clients have to say about the training I have delivered...

Nick Tomlinson is quite simply an outstanding trainer. We have attended his Anabat Express & Analook Introductory course and found the course materials and delivery comprehensive, logical and well put together making a potentially difficult subject easier to comprehend. This course gave us a sound basis upon which to confidently build. We have also engaged Nick for bespoke bat training. Once again, Nick delivered a thorough and considered programme ideally suited to our needs. It proved a very cost effective way to gain a much greater understanding of this European Protected Species and has contributed greatly to our working knowledge of bats.  Nick Tomlinson’s expertise, passion and enthusiasm are both obvious and readily offered making learning a great deal of fun and very worthwhile.

Nature Conservation Officer

Nick was commissioned to provide training in the use of Anabat Express detectors and Analook software to a group of National Trust volunteers. The aim was to enable volunteers to conduct a series of surveys across National Trust land to further our understanding of bat populations in Purbeck. Nick provided excellent tuition and was able to tailor the content and pace to suit a variety of people at different stages of learning. The delivery of the factual and technical material was well balanced with practical demonstrations and pre-planned group tasks as well as bat ecology and behaviour. Nick’s knowledge and enthusiasm was evident throughout and the course was thoroughly enjoyed and well received by all. Nick’s help has enabled us to implement a wide variety of surveys lead by volunteers which not only informs evidence-led management for bat conservation in Purbeck, but has enabled us to connect the local community with the role and importance of bats in the landscape.

Nick delivered a great introductory training course on bat sonogram analysis in Analook for staff and volunteers of our project. The training was well structured and clear, and catered excellently for the range of ability levels of attendees. The often quite technical processes involved were approached methodically, ensuring nobody got left behind or confused. We can wholeheartedly recommend Nick as a trainer, particularly since guidance regarding Analook is scant, so tricks and tips from the pros are invaluable!

Blackdown Hills Natural Futures Officer

Nick Tomlinson’s Analook bat sound analysis training course is suitable for all users, from beginners to the more experienced, aiding on the setup and use of the latest version of Analook to identify bat species by echolocation analysis. This all-inclusive course was clearly designed to give delegates the skills needed to analyse bat calls to a high standard of accuracy and to boost knowledge of echolocation. The course enabled trainees to develop and increase knowledge and understanding of the principles and methods used to identify bats to species level from their calls at a commercial level as well as support work towards gaining a Natural England bat survey licence. Nick’s knowledgeable and informative approach provided attendees with the launch pad to identify species independently with some confidence from their own collected data using Analook software.
